Saint John's exists for Four Purposes:​

​

1) To have the Word of God preached among us in all truth and purity.

We currently fulfill this purpose when we gather on Sundays at 10:30 to hear the Word of God read aloud and explained through the sermon. Our preachers are only those who have been trained, examined, and ordained by Christ's Church on earth.

2) To have the Sacraments administered according to divine institution.

According to Christ's mandate, we believe that Baptism is to be offered to "all nations" (Matthew 28:19) regardless of age, sex, or nationality. We celebrate Baptism with the greatest reverence whenever an unbaptized person is presented to our congregation for rebirth and renewal. So also, we celebrate the Lord's Supper every Sunday according to the testament laid out by our Lord Jesus on the night He was betrayed (1 Corinthians 11:23-25; Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19ff). Confession and Absolution is offered to all who repent at the beginning of every Church Service, and individually by appointment

3) To give to all the benefits of Christian Education.

We believe that every Christian, regardless of age, should be instructed in the one true faith. We fulfill this purpose through Sunday morning Education, book clubs, After-School Academy, Youth Confirmation Classes, and Adult Instruction Classes.

4) To administer charity according to the confessional standards of the Lutheran Church.

Since we confess that God took on human flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, we cannot help but see our Lord in the needs of others (Matthew 25:40). We host the USDA's commodities program once a month, and are always ready to hear both the spiritual and bodily requests of anyone who walks through our doors. Our congregation also maintains a mercy fund through the Lovell Police Department.

We are boldly Lutheran, which means nothing else than that we are Biblical, Sacramental, Confessional, and Liturgical

As a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, we acknowledge and accept the Books of the Old and New Testament as the revealed and inerrant Word of God, verbally inspired, and we submit to them as the only infallible authority in all matters of faith and life.

​

So also we accept the confessional writings of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, contained in the Book of Concord of 1580, as true and genuine expositions of the doctrines of the Bible. These confessional writing are:

• The Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds

• The Unaltered Augsburg Confession

• The Apology of the Augsburg Confession

• The Smalcald Articles

• The Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope

• The Small and Large Catechisms of Dr. Martin Luther

• The Formula of Concord
